Bioptical techniques may be applied to three-dimensional forms (sculptures), in addition to pictures. Psychic cycles occur here too, in normal vision and vision with a periscope device. Viewers have the feeling that gravity is annihilated and that composition elements slowly alter their position. There also appear other characteristic sensations resulting from bioptical techniques.
The author’s observations are presented, relative to the way space is perceived following bioptical experiments. Emphasis is laid on some relationships between the space liable to be perceived– including both the surrounding space and the space created by stimuli present in the work of art–and the psychic space, understood as a resultant of phylogenesis and ontogenesis, in contact with the physical medium and the social milieu.
